Ugh, old journal is old. I dont even have anything interesting to say, I just want to get rid of the old journal.

Yeah, I got nothin'. Sorry. I wish I had a witty journal to type, or some new art for you guys, but I don't. Shame on me. :| I HAVE been loyally sketching something new every day, I just haven't finished anything. It is hard to talk myself into doing that sometimes, even though I know the only way to improve is to do it, even knowing how much of an ametuer I am. I know I learn more by making mistakes and correcting them, but there's still that huge part of me that expects too much of myself.

I really don't feel like I am at all a part of the DA community, by the way. (This is on my mind because of recent news posts.) I haven't EVER felt like DA was a community website. Did I just miss something huge, or is that a common feeling? It's okay that I'm not, because I've never made an effort to join any clubs, and the forums are so incredibly rude that they don't interest me, etc. I don't really get anything out of DA, and I don't feel like my presence actually adds anything to it. Which is again, totally fine with me - I'm not a relationship pursuer-type of person, which you kind of need to be for most communities. I'm just wondering if there's some obvious bus I missed, since I've never thought of DA as a community website, in any way, shape or form.

Wow, your up late... Listen about everything, i know how ya feel, Like you know you could be better but dont know quite how to do it. Wanna know what might help, set a goal, not short term, long term. Know where you wanna go, and dont let anything f@*ing stand in your way. Hell, i know sketching is one of the only ways to get better, but life prevents that alot, just plow forward. I'm trying to fill an 200 page sketch book by the end of the semester, wanna know why... My goal is to be the Greatest Comic Book Artist ever. Sounds crazy, but know what, it takes going though alot of shit to even come close, and it takes alot of help to get there. Thats why ya gotta use places like DA, Subeta, StormArtist, Hell, even FA. Despite what most pessimist would tell you most people want to help us and see us succeed. Cause at the end of the day, when all is said and done, all we got left is our skills, friends, and family. So dont worry about the sketch book or not finishing things, just set one long goal, figure how to get there, and plow at it.

...you. Get out of my brain. I've felt the exact same way about the DA "community" ever since I knew it was supposed to /be/ a community. I've been making an effort this past week to be more involved... but it still feels like no matter now many comments I leave or forums I read, I will never be able to actually belong here.

DA has always just been a gallery to me, a place to keep tabs on everyone's art. There are so many other ways to keep in touch with the people that I just can't be bothered to try so hard on DA.

I've always viewed DA as a gallery site, as well. It's convenient for a momentary connection to other artists when they comment on an image or a gallery, but it really doesn't offer anything to build a group vibe beyond that.It's fine for being that type of site, but it honestly would have never occurred to me to think of this as a community where... the community *matters*.

The extent of community I get into is my chat (which is pretty popular, though not intimidating), and an occasional forum post. dA is about showcasing your talents as well as developing them, in my opinion. I hope you feel better, and a "crappy" journal is nothing to be ashamed about ^^

We coulddd attach the needle to the pog and use it as a compass, since my sword doesn't work in the dark.
