Argh tablet problem help.

Tue May 12, 2009, 8:18 PM
Art withdrawal, I am having it. You have no idea how much it is killing me to be drawing like. ...maybe 5% as much as I am used to drawing, daily.

Alright, so, I've had to do a LOT of messing with my computer lately (unwilling: aaah virus). And this latest bout, something happened to mess with my tablet sensitivity. Like, I have no pressure sensitivity right now. Has anyone had a similar problem/have a fix?

I have reinstalled the drivers several times, if your only suggestion is "head to the website and update your driver!" Then uh. I've done it, I promise you. I've done it many times. I've tried a couple of different uninstall methods. I tried reinstalling from my CD, reinstalling from the updated driver on the website, reinstalling from a later version on the website. Nothing works. I can get the tablet/screen resolution to match up, but I can't get pressure sensitivity in photoshop, painer, flash, opencanvas or from my little oekaki add on that usually lets me have pressure sensitivity there. I'm stumped.

(It isn't the tablet - it works fantastically on my laptop.)

Ugh, sounds similar to a problem I had after I got rid of a ton of viruses, but the computer wouldn't even recognize my tablet. o.O

Anyway, have you tried hooking the tablet up to a different computer? Any at all, a friend's or a school computer, just to see if it's your computer or actually the tablet? If it works on other computers, I might suggest trying a system restore on your computer to the last time you remember your tablet working. I really hope you don't end up having to wipe your computer to fix the problem like I did, good luck! <3

I wonder if it messed up with the tablet itself or it's just your comp being unable to recognize pen pressure. Have you tried using your tablet on another computer?

Try resetting the tablet setting in-program. Should be under preferences, wherever that is for photoshop. I only have PS elements, but in there it's under edit.

I am actually flat out shopping for a new desktop, which is kind of ridiculous and stupid, since this one is actually.. fine and dandy, except for this latest problem. And reformatting the computer is ...almost a certainty, at this point. I'd like NOT to, because this computer isn't bad at all. It does a great job. It's a few years old, but not really that outdated. I will likely end up reformatting it at the very least. At the most, reformatting it, giving it all shiny and clean to my parents, and buying myself a new one.

I don't think I CAN restore it to an older point, because then the virus would still be there, and it was difficult enough to get rid of it. XD

It sounds like you are basically in the same position as I was a few months ago. I ended up with (no lie) 200+ viruses on my computer, and they were some really nasty ones. They knocked out all of my system restore points, wouldn't allow me to run my anti-virus software, redirected almost all of my website browsing, and killed my USB ports. Nasty little things, viruses! I really wanted to just get a new computer too, but I knew I couldn't afford it. I tried to back up all my files before wiping it, but in the middle of backing stuff up I got the blue screen of death and just had to give up and wipe it. I lost EVERYTHING. I really hope your computer comes out better than mine did!

Ugh yeah that's true, hmm. What kind of tablet do you own? Maybe you'd be able to contact someone from the company and explain your situation. They would probably be able to give you better advice than I have. xD

okay, I think I helped a friend with the same problem a little while ago... lets see what we can do...

1. lets do something about those viruses download this program and and run it to get rid of any major virus or major viruses you have (it's free)[link]
2. We found out on my friends computer the virus was not actually affecting the tablet itself, but rather one of the programs the tablet uses to even run properly so the above might help.
3. If the above does not work, there may be one other option but I'll need to know what type of tablet you have...

let me know if any of that helps

She's got an Intuos 3. For the most part we've eliminated probably 95% of the viruses.

We coulddd attach the needle to the pog and use it as a compass, since my sword doesn't work in the dark.

Oh. Well, I've got a bent needle. What can we combine with your sword and my needle? I might have a pog somewhere, too. It looks useless, but you never know with these sorts of things.
